Robert Juliat Followspots at Chile’s Festival de Viña del Mar

Six Robert Juliat followspot were chosen to highlight the 52nd Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile, the most important music festival in Latin America.

Orbita Producciones of Santiago purchased four RJ Aramis 4.5°-8° 2500W HMI followspot and two RJ Flo 13°-24° 1800W MSR followspot especially for the event from Robert Juliat distributor, Lighting Bits of Brazil.

The Festival, which features a pop and folk song competition alongside international performances, was televised for the first time by Chilean TV channel Chilevision. It culminated in a commemorative concert timed to coincide with the precise moment a 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit Chile a year ago causing chaos and forcing the cancellation of the Festival in 2010.

Headline acts for the reinstated Festival of 2011 included Roberto Carlos of Brazil, Alejando Sanz of Spain, Calle 13 of Puerto Rico, Los Jaivas of Chile, Carlos Baute of Venezuela and Sting from the UK.

Luis Pastor, the stage and lighting designer for the Festival, was very happy with the performance of the Robert Juliat followspot: "I always use Robert Juliat followspot in my shows. The whole range of them is wonderful and I find them much more reliable than other brands. The colour temperature and intensity are homogeneous and they are very easy to operate."

Orbita Producciones are also happy with their investment in the Aramis and Flo spots which will now be used to cover future events. "Orbita chose the Robert Juliat brand as the quality of the product means they are guaranteed many years of good service from them," says Daniel Ridano of Lighting Bits.
